Socialism is crashing and burning in front of us

The economies of Greece, Spain, Italy, the UK and others are on the brink of collapse within the European Union right in front of our eyes. Socialism is a catastrophic failure as an economic system. The proof is right in front of us, and I would bet that the majority of those who voted for Barack Obama refuse to connect the dots.
Those Obama voters, who have as many TV sets as the rest of us, watch the riots, and listen to Wolf Blitzer describe the mayhem without mentioning the true cause of all of this discord: liberal socialist leaders will promise anything to anyone to get a vote. And because usually promises of anything other than money go largely ignored, then the promise of money is what most always gets the vote. This is Barack Obama's vision of a Utopian America: where the government gives everybody money, and they in turn keep Democrats in power forever. Right out of "Das Kapital,' Marx's recipe for the government to take control of the private sector and make everything the public sector.
To keep from suffering the backlash when eventually there's no more money to shovel out to the masses, these leaders have to muddy the waters, divert attention from what has gotten all of us in trouble and create demons: the banks, the opposition, the owners of the means of production such as Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Wall Street, Big This and Big That. In other words, the evil capitalists. More accurately, the problems can be falsely pinned on (in the words of their philosophical leader Karl Marx) the 'Bourgeoisie' (pronounced bush'-WAH-zee', for you Obama voters in New York, Illinois, Michigan and California).
.
And who are these liberal socialist leaders aiming their demonizing rhetoric at? Their constituents who are the recipients of their redistribution schemes, or the 'Proletarians.' .
Does any of this sound familiar? It is the stuff that failed in the former Soviet Union, the stuff that failed in China, the stuff that failed in Cuba, this is the philosophy that has failed everywhere it's ever been tried. But don't expect the Proles to buy into that reality. As long as the government checks clear, whether the government check was written to a government union worker, a welfare recipient, a social security recipient, or a food stamp redeemer, it won't matter as long as those checks keep coming.
.
What is as frustrating me is that these mooching slackers don't care or even bother to give it a moment's thought as to where the money is coming from. The don't give a damn about the source of their government checks ('Obama's stash,' as one lost soul in Detroit put it). The truth is that it comes from the private sector, every nickel of it, all of it. And if they expect to retire from the public sector at age 49 with a six figure pension for the rest of their lives, they can think again.
.
What they are watching on TV in Greece will be in their own front yard sooner than they think, because it has reached the point where, in the words of the late great Margaret Thatcher, we have run out of other people's money.

The protestors are selfish children, believing the sunshine and lollipops promises the politicians told them.

Naive fools! Where the hell did they think the money would come from?

Your analysis is spot on, but socialism will not die with a whimper. It will rage like a fire out of control until the firehoses of common sense conservatism finally quench it.

And even then some embers will survive. A certain percentage of the population is stubbornly impervious to fact and reason.

That impervious percentage showed up in droves to vote for Obama's sunshine and lollipops.

Now that the piper has to be paid, Obama has nowhere to hide, other than perhaps go with the 'wag the dog' manuever, which won't save his incompetent butt in 2012 anyway.

I saw an article this morning up on yahoo that had a headline saying that America is going down the same road as Greece (which at first glance was a stunning admission), but then immediately in the article it said that there are lots of reasons we won't fall like them, but it gave none. It's like when a mommy says "everything is going to be OK" when she knows it's not, and hence when asked "How do you know?" she can only say, "Because." So we're becoming more and more like Greece, but they're telling us that that's not a problem? How so?

We ARE becoming more like Greece, and that's not OK, and it won't be OK if we continue. And, for the record, I don't need journalists to act like my mommy and coddle me. Our homeo-grecian fiscal issues are a monstrous problem, a Godzilla in the room that liberals don't want to admit is there. We're staring our future in the face, and seeing what the march to Marxism looks like right in front of our faces in Greece. But the first part of recovery is getting out of denial.

They are parasites who are killing their host bodies. With this latest 'catastrophe', they've managed to stick a straw in the USA. Yep, we're going to be paying for some of that.

Time for the UN to become a 3rd world country only club.

Well put. Connecting the dots is a term I use often. It's not that difficult but it will require adjusting the ON/OFF switch on the propaganda machine sitting in its commanding position in the living room.

It seems to me that I heard that Obama said that Greece had to end its free medical program in order to save the country.

And yet he just passed from public healthcare in our own country. Anyone still question whether or not he fully understands what he's doing?

They don't care if the monetary system fails, their agenda is the Phoenix rising from the ashes.(The Symbol At The U.N.).
A third world war, and increasing the gap, by leaps and bounds, between the Uber-Rich and the Poor! Destroy the Middle Class-is a must to keep out the competition, they hate the competition from the Middle Class.

Hi Fredd, I think we are headed for this too!
But, the election results today show that the TEA Party values, and desire to get rid of the current bums, has helped. We will get rid of these socialist influences in 2010 & 2012.

Excellent post, Fredd. I am going to link to it over at TCL Facebook page.

Yes, the dominoes are starting to fall. Note that the MSM is touting this as an 'anti-incumbent' movement, when in reality it is an anti-liberal thing.

Lady: thanks for the compliment. It's a shame that we have to write this stuff that should be as obvious as a fly on a wedding cake, and yet we are called tin hatters and malcontents for noticing that liberal socialist policies are pure garbage that don't work.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Essentially your comment sums up what Alexis DeToqueville predicted almost 200 years ago.

When the pusbags get to lawfully swipe goodies from the earners, bad things follow.

Yeah, it's kind of inconvenient for BO that socialism is, as you say, crashing and burning on the other side of the Atlantic. Bummer. (heh)

Of course, the evidence in front of their faces doesn't make a bit of difference to these loons. They think that somehow the exact same thing that is destroying Europe will work here. Morons.

Fredd said...

Fuzzy:

Yup, the evidence that socialism doesn't work is not only slapping them in the face, it's knocking their teeth out.

And they still persist in pushing communism/socialism as a viable economic and social system, and it has not yet worked elsewhere because the wrong people were in charge. They will make it work this time, just give them time.

Like Wm F. Buckley once noted, 'the problem with socialism is socialism. The problem with capitalism is capitalists.' Or words to that effect.

Socialism on paper is great stuff. Once you put people into the formula, the plan goes to hell.
