Sometimes, you just have to hold your nose

These self righteous zealots, whether they be evangelicals, the anti-abortion crowd, the stronger defense folk or the economic conservatives, have to consider what they are doing when they categorically state they won't vote for Donald Trump under any circumstances.

What they are doing is providing de-facto support to the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.  That's what Democrats do, they support Hillary Clinton.  And that's what these pouting, whining zealots that are supposedly conservatives wind up being: Democrats.

With conservatives like these, who needs Democrat votes, anyway?  This same thing happened in the 2012 general election, when 5,000,000 of these same self righteous conservatives decided that for whatever reason they would not vote for Mitt Romney, even though they voted for John McCain 4 years earlier.  They all slept like babies after sitting out the election and watched as Barack Obama, the most awful president in the last century (or possibly ever), get re-elected owing to their lack of patriotism.

Those of you who take this position, for whatever reason, have to think about the consequences of your 'principled' stand.  If you are an evangelical, and are not going to vote for Trump, just remember that you are not voting for a Pastor in Chief.  By sitting out, you are guaranteeing that one of the most anti-Christian women in the country will win the White House.  Is that your choice?

Many of you are pro-life, and are concerned that The Donald, who now says he is solidly pro-life but in the past said he is pro-choice, will revert to his old evil ways.  Accordingly, you pro-life zealots will never vote for the guy, and will settle for Hillary Clinton, who will make sure that any one who wants an abortion will get one at any time for any reason.  Is that what you want?

If you are a strong-defense conservative, and think that Donald Trump doesn't have what it takes to make America strong and plan to sit out the election, then you are guaranteeing that the Bitch of Benghazi, the woman who practically murdered those four Americans at the embassy by ordering their rescuers to stand down, you will ensure that the biggest pacifist since Neville Chamberlain will occupy the Oval Office.  Will this result benefit your 'principled stand?'

Buck up, you big cry babies.  Sometimes you just have to hold your nose and vote for the lesser of two evils.  I myself could not stand the idea of George H.W. Bush becoming president in 1992, you know, the guy who called Reaganomics 'voodoo economics.'  Yeah, that guy.  I held my nose and voted for him anyway, instead of the God awful uber-liberal candidate Michael Dukakis.  I voted for Bob Dole (I really had to hold my nose on that one) over Bill Clinon.  I had to hold my nose again and vote for Dubya, twice, he was much preferable to either Al Gore or John Kerry.   Ditto with my votes for John McCain and Mitt Romney over Barack Obama.

My nose is getting awfully sore from constantly holding it when voting for the eventual conservative candidate.  But the liberal alternative gains essentially half a vote when you self righteous zealots sit home and pout.

Get over yourselves.  Think of the country, you whining cry babies.  Just hold your nose, put your pathetic one-issue concerns to the side and do the right thing.  Support Donald Trump.  True, he's not perfect, but he is 1000% better than Hillary Clinton.

Or, if you want to sit this one out, put up with President Hillary Clinton.  You choose.

I'm with you on this 100%. I'm actually starting to think that Trump could do a pretty good job. Now the GOPe has hauled Mittens out to slander Trump. What the hell is wrong with these people?

LL said...

The mainstream GOP are terrified that a Trump presidency wouldn't be business as usual (pay to play) and that Trump might sit there and break their rice bowl. It would break too, because the president can call them all a bunch of useless parasites, and that just won't do.

Would an independent Trump run win in light of a Hillary melt-down? Quite possibly. Then he really wouldn't owe the GOP anything.

I did a lot of political corruption investigations (A LOT). I had a young protege rise about the time that I cashed in. In Orange Co. CA, the only people you investigate are Republicans. We were sitting in a parking lot talking about a case pending against Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (still in office) and his then mistress, now wife, Rhonda Carmony. He asked, "but aren't the Republicans the good guys?" I asked him, "What's the difference between a white rat and a black rat?" He said, "The color of the hair." I explained that was the difference between Republicans and Democrats. They're all rats. The system makes them rats.

And the rats are swarming Trump now to try and inflict the 'death of a thousand cuts'.

Fredd said...

LL: this is exactly the appeal Donald Trump has. He's not of the system that turns otherwise good people into rats, both black and white.

I would love to see how this all shakes out, with the rat food troughs not only cut off from their endless supply of rat food, but the troughs themselves taken out to the dumpsters.

The standard of living in Loudon, Prince William and Fairfax counties in Virginia and Montgomery county in MD would plunge by 50% during Trump's first term. You could pick up a McMansion in Falls Church VA for chump change, once the former owner/rat has to file for bankruptcy after getting thrown to the wolves by somebody who crashes the gravy train.

Fredd said...

Adrienne: the parasites that suck off the Washington gravy train see their source of wealth threatened. Big time.

They are now desperate, and I think Mitt was pressed into service by the Old Guard, although I can't imagine what he has been offered to do this.

We'll see. I don't know that this shiftless effort to bring down Trump will have any effect, as Mitt is appealing to those that blew him off last election.

Maybe we have a little revolution going on, and there's no way of extinguishing all of those torches out there, or taking away the peasant's pitch forks. But that doesn't stop Marie Antoinette Romney from giving his 'let them eat cake' speech tonight.

i don't need to sign a petition. i'm going to vote for him in the Primary to show my support. and i'm going to vote for him in the Presidental election because Donald Trump will UPHOLD the Constition the way our founding fathers wanted it upheld. he will stop all this ILLEGAL entry into the US. and he will overturn obama's exec. orders. Trump knows HOW to fix the wrongs and he WILL fix it. this man does not NEED the job, but he will take it because he is as sick as the rest of us by what the GOVERNMENT has done to RUIN this Country. Donald Trump For President. obama and hillary for prison.

The fact that we were already beyond the tipping point was proven when we elected Clinton the second time. Ever since, we've merely been adjusting the throttle.

Whining cry babies -- I like that, well said. There's got to be a whole lot of fear right now in the rat trough counties, and I like that too.

Falls Church McMansion... heh.

Sandy - I'm with you, Big Time. I'm not likely to vote for him in two weeks in the Illinois primary. I'll throw a conscience vote to Ted Cruz, simply because my candidate (Carly Fiorina) was eliminated by Americans other than me. BUT: I will be voting for whoever has an R behind their name in November. And if that's The Donald, then he's my guy. And so what if I have to hold my nose, it's like the Geico commercials say: 'it's what you do.'

Incidentally, my vote won't matter in November, either, since Cook County, Illinois has so many pathetic Democrats that will vote for Hillary regardless, all our Illinois electoral votes go to her anyway. So it turns out my vote is a conscience vote at every turn.

Fredd said...

Gorges: that particular election (our guy was Bob Dole at the time, as it was 'his turn') depressed the dog feces out of me, I have to tell you. Bill Clinton was drowning in scandals, scandals way worse that Dick Nixon ever had, and yet he wins re-election. And that was even before Monica.

You are correct, that 1992 election was a turning point for Americans as a free people.

Pastor: I just got done yelling at my radio at everything Mitt Romney said about The Donald. I feel better now. That Mitt speech tells me that the establishment is absolutely terrified of Trump right now. They are pulling out the stops, and irritating those conservatives who are disillusioned with Their Father's Republican Party.

I think the Old Guard rats are considering abandoning ship. Not yet, but they are definitely looking around for the exits.

We are certainly living in interesting times.

I believe we are in agreement.
I feel comfortable bashing Trump now in the hopes he won't be there in November.
He is a disaster, but less of one than Hillary.
I hate the fact that so many people who support him are democrats and those who think he's the ONLY one who can beat Hillary.
That's demonstrably false.

Anyone but Hillary.

Or Bernie....

Ed:

Yes, you and I are looking at this mess with the same view. I think Donald Trump is an inarticulate, narcissistic bully who will probably push through 75% of legislation I like, and 25% of stuff I absolutely loathe. I would prefer any of the other 16 candidates that threw their hats into the ring this time around, any one of them. The Donald was my last pick. And yet here he is. Same thing happened to me with Mitt. And Dubya. And Bob Dole. And George H.W. Bush. Yet I voted for these guys all the same.

Hillary, on the other hand, will push through 100% of atrocious, horribly damaging socialism.

The math ain't hard here, Ed. It just ain't. And I'm a public school product, that's how easy this math is. Trump may be an inarticulate, narcissistic bully, but he's OUR inarticulate, narcissistic bully.

So, you're sayin I should vote for clinton?

Fredd said...

Yeah, Kid. That's what I'm sayin. Go ahead and vote for that old, fat ugly lesbian crone. See how you feel after you leave the voting booth. Of course, we are getting ahead of ourselves here. I heard that a federal grand jury has already been seated, and that they are hearing testimony as we speak.

So it's possible that you might have to vote for Kerry.

Also residing in IL, my vote is just for fun. Sometimes I vote democrat just to mess with the local precinct chair.

Fredd said...

Michael: a little 'Operation Chaos' going on with you, eh?

Fredd said...

LL:

Yes, much appeal there. In addition, most of us conservatives who have been watching our philosophy get trashed by the left are stoked that we have a guy who will punch back, and hard.

Dubya felt it was beneath the dignity of the office to respond to the constant attacks, lies and distortions hurled at him, and did nothing. As a result, these lies, attacks and distortions became part of our philosophy in the eyes of most Americans, and enormous damage was caused by letting all of the vitriol stick.

Dubya was dead wrong. He did more damage to our philosophy than virtually anyone, even more than Dick Nixon by letting the left trash him and us, as he sat there and took it. The Donald is not the type to allow this, and we like that.

Much appeal here.

LL said...

In Kansas, Rubio lost to Ted Cruz by 32 percent. In Kentucky, he trailed Donald Trump by 20 percent and by 30 percent in Louisiana. And in Maine, the “Future of the Republican Party” was trounced by almost 40 points. As soon as Rubio was "anointed" to take the place of the stumbling, bumbling Jeb!, his support evaporated. I find that fascinating.

Now the GOP is left with the promise of the polemic Cruz, who really is despised in the Senate and inner circles and the unpredictable, bombastic Trump, who may or may not be hated more than Cruz. The members of the GOP have walked away from their masters and are charting their own course.

Soon the Dems will have their turn.

Fredd said...

LL: yeah, it's time that those chickens came home to roost for the GOP masters. Just how often their favored candidates could benefit from the unwavering support of the base, and then forget their part of the bargain.

This could not go on forever, and it appears it has ended.

I have yet to vote FOR someone. I've only voted against democrats.

The democrat party enacted 100% of the anti-black person legislations. The democrat party is the only party to have left us with every life sucking problem we have today - unfunded social security and the welfare state - federal public education that sucks and has turned our public schools into communist indoctrination centers - The Dept of Energy - the Evilization of the IRS. TSA and DHS - Yes, GWB was a democrat.

The only thing they didn't so was the EPA. That was Nixon, but that could be easily erased or throttled with a proper administration.

HILLARY CANNOT HAVE THE WHITE HOUSE (or BERNIE, of course); we must do all we can to avoid that and if it means voting for the awful Trump, so be it.
Breaks my heart.

Isn't it interesting the Dr. Ben Carson is now about to endorse Trump. I thought for sure he'd be in the Cruz camp because of the religion thing. Apparently Ben's smart enough to cut a deal with a winner instead.

Fredd said...

LL: yes, it's better to be on the winning side rather than languish as a principled loser. Of course, principled losers have that high horse thing that Obama eschews, there's always that.

If anything, the gauge of the American voter is anger. That bodes well for Trump. I got enough "pissed off at the bullshit" running around inside of me for a dozen elections.

Fredd said...

Sig: yup, high emotions get the vote out, for sure. I'm off to the polls now, to 'piss away' my vote for Ted Cruz. Donald is getting all the love here in Illinois, Cruz has no shot. My pick would have been Carly Fiorina, but the Americans who voted in primaries before Illinois decided that I should just shut up and vote for somebody else.

Don't get me started on how the primaries are run, Sig....
