Unfortunately, that leaves the outgoing Democrat majority in control from November 3rd, 2010 through January 3rd, 2011: sixty one days of terror during which Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama will wreak legislative havoc on our country, regardless of the political consequences for years if not decades to come.
.
They have already announced that they plan to introduce, debate, gain cloture and pass around 20 pieces of odious, destruction liberal bills such as card check, cap and trade and comprehensive immigration reform (also known as amnesty), to name a few of the horribly damaging bills among many others nearly as damaging to our economy, our Constitution and our way of life in America.
.
In the U.S. Senate, Harry Reid will have 57 reliable Democrat votes, two reliable Independent Democrat votes (Bernie Sanders and Joe Lieberman), plus a few reliable Republican votes they can pick off, namely Olympia Snow, Susan Collins, John McCain and a few other RINO's from time to time to pass these God awful bills into law. Obama will sign them as fast as they show up on his desk, and repealing, slowing down, defunding or otherwise thwarting this crazy lurch leftward will be an extremely tough row to hoe. In the House, Nancy Pelosi can count on 255 reliable Democrat votes to a measly 177 Republican votes to usher in their madness in these 61 days of legislative carnage.
.
And do these outgoing liberals know that they will enrage the American people to the point that they may not win another national elective majority for years to come? Yes, of course they know this. And they also know that once an entitlement is enacted, it never goes away. Ever. And they know that they will, in the fullness of time, get the gavels of power back, and when they do, look at the bureaucracy that will have been in place for them to saunter right back in, and have their 'rightful' seat at the table of power of the socialist nation they had created back in 2010 - 2011.
.
'Fredd,' you say, 'no reasonable political party would ever do that to themselves in the short run, by throwing their entire party onto their own sword.' Oh yeah? Who ever said that this particular party, in this particular day and age, was ever reasonable?
.
The Democrat's exit from power in January, 2011 will much resemble the political version of Saddam Hussein's retreating Iraqi Republican Guard Army, leaving Kuwait at the end of the First Gulf War: they will set the whole country on fire, and then gleefully admire the carnage they wrought in their rear view mirrors.
.
Boy, do I hope I am very wrong about this eventuality. I really, really do.

I would not put it past them to spite the American voters in the way.
While I agree with you Fredd I wish to remind you of what became of Saddam - he was hanged by his own people much the same as Mussolini.
I do not expect it, but I hope some sense of responsibility enters into the brains of Pelosi and ilk after Nov. 2nd, otherwise if the legislation you speak of comes to fruition it will push some folk the very edge.
Since they have passed the bulk of their legislation against the will of the majority of Americans, I see no glimmer of hope that they will change their plans to pass more devastating law. Opposition (and a lot of it) doesn't seem to matter to Obama's progressive agenda. They just keep telling us how much we are going to love the new "regulations."
I, like you, Fredd, hope we are both wrong.
Silver:
As the old adage goes, 'past behavior predicts future behavior.' Or, a leopard doesn't change its spots.
In other words, we're screwed.
Christopher:
Yes, the Iraqis couldn't wait to see Saddam swingin' at the end of a rope.
And you perhaps have an erroneous assumption: you assume Nancy Pelosi HAS a brain, rather than just a wide spot of neurons at the end of her spinal cord. She's gotta be the dumbest Speaker ever.
Linda:
I keep hearing how much I am going to love this stuff, and I just keep marveling at how much I hate it.
There's a disconnect here that both of us seem to be unable to explain.
Fredd,
You my friend misread my comment and therefore made the assumption.
I said I 'hoped' which is not an assumption but more along the lines of a wish and before making said wish I stated I did not expect it.
Now even before that I for lack of more direct wording was giving fair warning to liberals in power for the moment, to keep that power in check should they value their very lives.
The way this is headed we are indeed at risk of becoming a true bannana republic.
Fredd, you ain't wrong. The Dems have already said with no shame this is their gameplan.
I agree, as I've posted before, the good, bad and ugly.
We will need as much a dictator on the right as we had on the left.
All this crap needs repealed. All these bills contain unknown (by us) clauses that will serve as ammo caches anytime the commies are in power.
If by some miracle we get one, it may spark a civil war of sorts. I would not be the least surprised to see the left go bonkers violent. Random acts of destruction, vandalism, and gang violence on the unfortunate conservatives finding themselves way outnumbered. The libs have definitely been energized and I don't see them going away quietly.
Kid:
The libs don't outnumber us. And remember, the libs are the ones that don't like guns.
In other words, we got the numbers, and we got the guns, if it comes to that. Which I hope it doesn't, but just speaking for myself, I am armed and know how to use guns.
If, God forbid, an armed revolution comes out of all of this horrible crap the left has been jamming down our throats, I just wonder how things will shake out.
Fredd, Ditto.
But it's like being attacked by 5 year old lunatics, eh? As much damage as they do, I would hate the shoot them.
I was talking to some friends today, and realizing that even Ronald Reagan didn't turn back the clock on any of carter's evil, let alone lbj or the rest of it, I'm not the least bit optimistic that a republican majority will be anything other than an intermission in the commie take over...
Kid:
Even though we both can see the gloom and doom side of things, the future ain't here yet, and we'll see how this latest little 'revolution' shakes out.
At worst, it's the end of days. At best, we've seen the error of our ways, and we'll roll back all of this socialist idiocy.
If we look at human history, we'll note that great civilizations rose and fell because humans were humans. Recently, (relatively speaking),we can look at Rome: their decadence did them in (bread and circuses), that' what the people wanted, and by Jupiter, that's what the Caesars gave 'em. Sound familiar?
Or even more recently than that, the Weimar Republic in post WWI Germany: decadence galore, morality was completely out of vogue, and we all remember the inflation that toppled that regime.
Do we ever learn from history?
Nope, apparently not. But there's always a bit of hope, since we still have that tattered, battered document that every once in a while is referenced: the U.S. Constitution, and none of those other guys had anything close.
Fredd, Yes, I can fully appreciate being overdone on the down side, just like when the market sells off and the S&P goes to 666 (which was the latest low - interesting eh) This is when you buy.
Politically - one could argue that this is when you buy.
I sure get that, but what nags at me more and more is the realization that we haven't rolled back Any of the socialist crap. It has gotten worse since LBJ and one might even argue FDR, sans a super intermission led by the greatest generation who just got done kicking the world's ass and wasn't going to put up with an ounce of commie crap from anyone.
But too many have once again slid into complacency, dependency, apathy, ignorance, and downright communist indoctrination.
It's certainly not my intent to be a downer, just to try to define the problem, for it isn't possible to solve a problem that hasn't been defined yet as I'm sure none of this is news to you.
Good luck to us.
