Voting with your middle finger

I've heard it said lately that voting for either Donald Trump or Ted Cruz in the presidential primaries in 2016 is done with the middle finger.

On the Republican side, voters have been betrayed by the Establishment GOP one too many times: their deal with the voters the last four elections or so is that if we hand them the gavels (committee chairmanships gained with a majority), they will:

  • Repeal Obamacare
  • Defund Obamacare
  • Roll back/restrict Obama's executive orders
  • Get control of the out of control government spending
  • (fill in whatever other promise these weasels made here)
And what are the results of these promises that the Establishment GOP made, now that we the voters have empowered both the Senate and the House with GOP majorities, and handed them their gavels?   The results are the following:

.................(crickets chirping here)...............................

In essence, the Establishment GOP broke its promises to the voters on too many occasions to count.  They simply lie to their constituents while on the stump.  Flat out bald-faced lies.

I just wonder what would happen to these GOP liars if they had made such promises to the Mafia?  To the Medillan or Sinaloa drug cartels?  Promises such as those made by the GOP Establishment to groups such as these and then wantonly and openly broken/ignored would be dealt with harshly.  Very harshly.

We now are seeing what it looks like when voters get tired of being lied to: defections to 'undesirable' candidates.  You know, the kind of candidates that Karl Rove and Reinz Preibus don't like.  Those kind of 'undesirables.'  And yet Karl Rove and Reinz Preibus to this very day don't understand why their chosen 'Establishment' candidates are getting no traction whatsoever.

We voters understand it perfectly.  And we are doing something about the Establishment's having taken the American conservative vote for granted for so long.  We are enmasse voting for 'undesirables.'

Now we are all waiting for the GOP convention in Cleveland, which is governed by the Establishment GOP.  The majority of delegates earned during the primaries have gone to such aforementioned 'undesirables,' such as Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.  When the convention gets underay, we will see what kind of destruction the GOP can render to their already tattered credibility.

The GOP Establishment will have to make a choice: go with the general mood of their pissed off constituency and nominate an 'undesirable,' thereby losing control of the Republican Party.  Or, alternatively, they can hand pick one of their guys, an Establishment candidate that Karl Rove calls a 'fresh face' to head up the Republican ticket.  And then they can watch as the conservative voters completely and totally wash their hands of these GOP Establishment morons, in essence relegating the Republican Party to another 40 years of wandering in the wilderness.

If the Establishment GOP chooses the latter, it looks like Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, or even a Democrat interloper like Joe Biden or John Kerry will get elected to a third term of Obama.

The way the GOPe is going, Killary will be our next president. Lord have mercy!

I've been thinking that the establishment GOP could put Carl Rove forward for president. I'm sure that he'd accept the nomination. Nobody would vote for him. I'd hoist my middle finger. But there are parasites like George Will who would cast a vote for fresh-faced Rove.

Personally, I feel that Ted Cruz is like Paul Ryan, "conservative" only as long as he has to be to get in power.

Adrienne: With the old, fat lesbian crone elected, even the Lord would be hard pressed to help us.

Fredd said...

Gorges: probably not true. Ted is an ideologue, and will be very challenged to bridge the chasm between Dems and the GOP. Which I am OK with, BTW.

Any 'fresh face', Karl Rove or otherwise, anointed by the Establishment will tank the GOP like never before. I wonder who will end up the most hated man in the United States? Reinz? Karl? Mitch McConnell? Paul Ryan? Hard to say, but anyone with their fingerprints on this convention skulduggery will be as loathed and hated as Benedict Arnold. Or the kidnappers of the Lindbergh baby.

I say that because of course the Democrats will hate whoever that is, they hate all Republicans. But ALL Republicans, other than the handful of inner circle apparatchiks, will also hate this person. I am guessing it will be Reinz Preibus.

Then you have not seen the timeline of his conservative achievements, as opposed to the progressive activities of Trump.
The man gave us Heller, for starters.

I find it hard to blame Ryan or the party in general for the failure to repeal Obamacare. They got the repeal on Obama's desk. He vetoed it.
Too many Dem Senators to override.
First real budget in seven years now that Reid can't block a Senate vote.
With all the other Senate votes he's blocked.
Reid's blocking is what forced CRs.

I just hope Cruz gets the nomination. Trump is a RINO and only in it for his ego and not for the country.

That's it exactly baby,

I'll even write them a letter and tell them how angry I am.

Language.....

Ed: whose conservative achievements? And who is Heller? And who gave us Heller, and who the hell is Heller anyway? You are not at all clear here, and I know you can do better, Ed, I am not a mind reader. Please try again, with the original post in mind.

LindaG: Trump will be taking a huge (or as he would put it, yooge) pay cut to run the country for awhile. I am not convinced he's in it just for him. He's as frustrated as the rest of us at the way politicians are running our country into the ground.

He's not in this just for him. He can do far better at calling the shots nationally, and most of us (not you, though) know it.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks as though the election is ours to lose. Too bad that that prospect doesn't seem to unsettle the, ahem, conservative mandarins.

Fredd said...

Reverend, the prospect of conservatives (and with Donald Trump, I use that term loosely) winning back the White House is critical for the country, but inconsequential to those mandarins you mention. If The Donald is the guy sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office, they are all out on their butts.

Since they like their current digs, they will probably throw a monkey wrench into the works to ensure that something like a Trump or Cruz administration never happens, thus ensuring that nobody starts measuring the windows in their offices for drapes per the new order's tastes.

That just won't do, you see. And to hell with the rest of us, it's THEIR party and they'll cry if they want to, cry if they want to....

That comment was in reply to George Smythe re Cruz.
And you know the Heller feller.

Fredd said...

Ed: still gotta give you an "F" in communication skills. And you being the radio guy, one would think you would know better. Let me school you some, Ed:

Clearly, the way I set up my blog, the comments are strictly chronological and you have to reference in some manner the text upon which you are commenting. You failed to do that, and thus are completely unclear to the casual reader (which would be me).

Secondly, you failed to establish who 'the man' is, the one who 'gave us Heller.' Was it Paul Ryan or Ted Cruz? Or Donald Trump? Very confusing, and accordingly I must give you another F here, Ed.

And on to Heller. I had to Google the guy, and the only hits that seem to make sense is the Supreme Court decision, DC vs Heller, a second amendment affirmation. Heller is in no way common knowledge, and is only meaningful to lawyers or 2nd amendment advocates/opponents, and should have been mentioned as such to clear up any confusion. Yet another F, Ed.

And the final F you get, Ed, is that I had to yet again Google just exactly which of these three guys you mention had anything to do with Heller, and it turns out that Ted Cruz was the lucky winner in my search. Way too much effort on my part, Ed, to figure out what the hell you are talking about. It should have been included in your comment, and not left to me to dig up all the info.

And now yet another F for you owing to the time I spent issuing this schooling to you, Ed.

Please take this constructive criticism to heart, Ed, and don't leave me yet another cryptic puzzle to slog through. I appreciate your compliance in this regard.

The establishment is too entrenched to give America its choice. There is too much money and power in their hands to give it to someone like Trump (who, as you suggest, would 'fire them'). Cruz will play ball, even though they hate him. With Hillary on her way out the door, Bernie is just as unreliable as Trump.

Maybe Cruz will be the one? Or maybe Kerry will get his wish. And WE THE PEOPLE will get hosed once again as the system will continue??

Woodsterman (Odie) said...

The GOP doesn't seem to care a hoot about the "We the People". They only care who's paying for the drinks at the cocktail parties. I think it's going to get uglier before it gets better.

Fredd said...

LL: can't find fault with a single syllable you said. Not one. Sadly.

Fredd said...

Odie: by 'uglier,' I wouldn't mind a little Revolution, you know, some heads on pikes, a few more chopped off unceremoniosly, all of that would be pretty ugly. But necessary. The way things are going now, the ugliness will happen sooner rather than later.

I'm for Trump, simply because he might be able to start the revolution! Boom!
I think one would have to have a massive ego in order to even want to be president of these united states.
My only concern with the Donald is, all of our best warriors have actually been warriors at some point, that he does not have that background, or he does in a different platform...

Fredd said...

Brighid: FDR was never a warrior, and he did fine. Ditto with Abe. I think the Donald will get the hang of things militarily. They all seeem to.....except Barry. And Jimmy. They'll never get it.

Brig said...

Fredd,
I beg to differ,
Abe was most certainly a Warrior- a great Warrior,
FDR was as well, though for a vastly different purpose.

Fredd said...

Brighid: I meant combat experience. I know that FDR never had a round fired at him in anger, for sure. I guess Abe had seen combat in the French and Indian war, my error there.

Not that it matters. I am not convinced that you need to have somebody shoot at you to make your judgement in war better. It helps, but is not a deal killer.

Fredd,
Sorry I'm not very good at getting my nuances of thought across.
Donald I believe will do just fine when he is elected.
